PVD coating stainless steel coil
PVD coating stainless steel coil is an effective process that utilizes physical vapor deposition to cover the surface of the stainless steel coil with titanium ion plating. This layer helps make the stainless steel coil more durable and corrosion-resistant, as well as providing an aesthetically pleasing finish.
The different colors of PVD coating available
Enhance the look of your product with PVD color coatings! Available in a spectrum of colors, such as gold, rose gold, black, and champagne, sapphire blue to emerald green, purple to copper–even rainbow and dark grey. Each color has its own unique look and feels that helps to create a more specific aesthetic for the desired product than powder coating.
PVD coatings are not limited to just the colors listed, they can be personalized depending on your individual needs. Furthermore, multi-layered PVD technology guarantees a reliable and remarkable color that is able to endure significantly more damage than many traditional surface finish, such as bead blasted, mirror polishing, and brushing.
PVD-coated stainless steel sheets VS PVD-coated stainless steel coils
For several years, PVD coating technology has been applied to the stainless steel sheet, proving itself as mature and dependable. In the last few years, innovators have begun using this same method on coils.
Specification
Stainless steel coils are cut into smaller pieces to create sheets with standard sizes 1219*2438mm and 1219*3048mm or custom-made specifications while a whole coil has hundreds of meters long with a maximum width of 1500mm.
Color range
Our stainless steel sheets can be coated in all PVD colors, and you have the choice of single-sided or double-sided plating.
Conversely, the current stainless steel coil is only available in a limited selection of colors because existing technology is not good enough and requires more time to upgrade.
The engineers are still researching and developing new colors for coils, so more color options will be available in the near future.
Working efficiency
Depending on the type of plating, the number of pieces that can be done at one time varies. The hanging and horizontal PVD vacuum chamber for sheets are comparatively small and only able to coat 3-8pcs of 4ftx 8ft simultaneously.
However, due to its length, a coil vacuum chamber is capable of coating several hundred meters in each cycle.
Color Effect
As mentioned previously, 3-8 pieces of sheets can be PVD color coated at a time, and it takes roughly 10-20 minutes.
This enables us to quickly spot the uneven color problem or detect any inconsistencies with the sample color approved by the clients in the PVD process, allowing for timely adjustments for the next batch.
However, when it comes to coils which are usually hundreds of meters long, we must take special care during setup: if not properly configured beforehand, resulting colors may appear uneven or vary significantly from what was initially intended–and by then it is too late!
Potential risk
Moving the sheets into the vacuum furnace must be done by hand, and if not managed carefully, this process can cause horseshoe marks on fragile sheets that are generally thinner than 0.8 mm.
On the other hand, stainless steel coils will remain unaffected by any human-induced problems due to automated production processes.
It is also important to consider that the risk associated with sheets can be minimized if operators take extra care and attention during handling.
Ultimately, both sheets and coils have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages in terms of their potential risks. It is up to the user to decide which material best suits their application.
Regardless of the choice, users should be aware of any potential risks associated with handling stainless steel materials in order to ensure a successful outcome.
The benefits of using PVD color coating stainless steel coil
Environmentally friendly
The coating process is free of hazardous chemicals and eliminates the need for painting or plating, reducing carbon emissions.
Durable and long-lasting
The PVD coating is resistant to wear and tear and corrosion resistance making; this ensures that the color can last long.
Cost reduction
Coating an entire coil at one time reduces the cost and time spent, as well as eliminates the need for additional post-coating processes.
