Etched sheets are enhanced through one of our design patterns or the specific requests and designs of our customers. Acid is used to etch the surface, removing a thin layer of metal around the areas protected by a mold. The etched portions of the surface will be rough, setting them apart clearly from the rest of the sheet. This process creates a design or pattern on the steel that can be very intricate and detailed.

Stainless steel sheets are generally mirror polished before being etched and can be plated in a variety of colors, such as titanium gold, rose gold, violet, green and blue.

Our etching machine is able to apply this surface treatment to a variety of finishes. Etched mirror finished sheets are an in-demand product for adding beauty to surfaces because they appear very 3-dimensional.

304 stainless steel is the most common grade of stainless steel. It is corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic, and can be used for a variety of applications, including food preparation and storage, water treatment, chemical processing, and all interior & exterior decoration.
316/316L stainless steel is corrosion-resistant at a higher cost than 304/304L and has a high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It is also non-magnetic and can be used in marine environments.
430 stainless steel is less durable but is a good choice for low-cost applications.
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel is measured by the amount of chromium and nickel in the alloy. Depending on the intended usage, you should select a type of stainless steel sheet that best suits your needs.

The Selection of Size

  1. The standard stainless steel sheet sizes include 1219x2438mm, 1219x3048mm, 1000x2000mm, and 1500x3000mm. The width and length can be customized but the maximum width is limited to 1500mm.
  2. Keep in mind that larger sheets can be difficult to transport and store, so usually a max of 4000mm long is the most suitable for transport.
  3. If you are not sure what size to choose, consult with a professional or manufacturer. They can help you determine what size is best for your needs.

The Selection of Thickness and Gauge

Stainless steel is available in a variety of thicknesses and gauges, so it is important to select the right one for your project.

Here are a few tips to help you choose the right thickness and gauge for your project:

  • Think about the maximum load-bearing capacity of the material.
  • Consider the weight of the finished product.
  • Check the size and weight restrictions of your equipment.
  • Choose a thickness and gauge that will meet your requirements while staying within the weight restrictions of your equipment.
  • Always consult with Vigor Team before making a final decision.
  • Remember that thicker sheets require more weight to move and may be harder to work with. Thinner sheets are easier to handle but may not be as strong. 

In general, if the stainless steel sheets you need are for indoor and outdoor use, the ideal thickness range is 0.5mm to 2.0mm. If the thickness is less than 0.5mm, it’s easy for laborers to cause surface issues as they move and lift throughout the manufacturing process. If the thickness is more than 2.0mm, it will be difficult to use in practical applications. In addition, the color sheets serve primarily a decorative purpose, so there is no need to use a large thickness; this may also help you save money.

When selecting a stainless steel sheet design, be sure to consider the following factors:

The environment it will be used, outdoor or indoor?

  How it will be handled, welding, cutting, or bending?
