Why silver, not gold or black
What makes mirror silver different
from colored water ripple sheets
Most buyers compare our ripple finishes on appearance alone. The practical
differences matter more, and they all come back to the coating.
No colour batch variation
Every PVD-coated sheet comes out of a coating chamber, and chamber-to-chamber variation is real. On a large ceiling we insist coloured panels are produced in a single run so the tone stays consistent. Silver has no coating, so there is nothing to vary. Order 200 sheets this year and 40 more in three years — they will sit side by side without anyone noticing.
Lower cost per square metre
PVD is an additional process with its own machine time and yield loss. Removing it takes a real percentage off the sheet price. In our experience that gap is often what keeps a ripple ceiling in the drawing instead of getting value-engineered out of it.
Shorter lead time
Coloured patterns are largely made to order. Mirror silver is where we hold our deepest stock, across small, medium and large ripple. When a site programme is tight, silver is usually the fastest ripple finish we can move.
No coating to wear or fade
PVD is durable, but it is still a surface layer — it can be scratched through at panel edges, and on an exterior façade it faces years of UV. Silver’s appearance comes from the steel itself. For handrail-height wall panels, lift lobbies and entrance canopies, that matters more at year ten than it does on day one.
Maximum reflectivity
A coloured PVD layer reflects less total light than bare polished steel — most obviously with black, but it holds for gold and blue too. Silver returns the most, so the ripple reads with the sharpest contrast between its bright and dark bands.
Neutral in any scheme
Silver sits comfortably against warm timber, stone and brass accents, and it does not date the way a strong colour can. On projects that will be re-tenanted or refurbished around the ceiling, that is worth something.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order quantity?
The MOQ is 10 pieces in standard sizes: 1219*2438mm, 1219*3048mm, or 1500*3000mm. A higher MOQ applies for custom-made dimensions.
Can I get free samples?
Yes, we offer free stock samples of our mirror silver water ripple sheet. However, we kindly ask you to cover the shipping cost. For custom-fabricated samples, a small processing fee may apply. Feel free to contact us to arrange sample delivery based on your project needs.
Can the sheets be folded or fabricated?
Water ripple sheets can be bent or fabricated, but due to the uneven surface, careful edge folding and corner processing are required. We can provide grooving and bending service upon request.
Is mirror silver cheaper than gold or black ripple?
Yes — PVD is an added process. Send us your size, thickness and quantity and we will give you a per-square-metre comparison against the coloured options, so you can see the actual gap rather than a general claim.
Will silver sheets ordered a year apart still match?
Yes. There is no coating, so there is no batch tone to drift. This is the main reason phased projects specify silver over PVD colours.
Can mirror silver be used outdoors?
Yes, and for long-term exterior work it is arguably better suited than PVD, because there is no coating to degrade under UV. Specify 316L within a few kilometres of the coast.
Is there a protective film on the surface?
Yes. All mirror silver ripple sheets come with a PVC or laser protective film to avoid scratches during transport and installation.
What is the lead time for bulk orders?
Normally, production takes around 5–10 days, plus 10–60 days for ocean shipping depending on your location. We recommend scheduling early for large projects.
Is anti-fingerprint coating available?
Yes. We can apply anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch coating on the surface to improve durability and ease of cleaning—especially useful for high-touch areas.
What is the installation method for ceilings or walls?
There are 3 main methods:
Direct adhesive for small areas
Mounted on plywood base for folding seam designs
Suspension system for larger ceilings (with hooks and brackets)
