Premium Color Stainless Steel Sheet

A color stainless steel sheet is a stainless sheet whose surface has been treated by PVD coating, Inco electrochemical coloring, electroplating, or nano-painting to form a decorative color layer. The base metal keeps its original strength and corrosion resistance, while the surface gains long-lasting colors such as gold, rose gold, champagne, black, copper, blue, green, violet, pink, red, and iridescent rainbow tones.

We mainly use four technologies:

• PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition):
  Vacuum deposition of a thin, hard metallic compound film. Offers vivid metallic colors (gold, rose gold, black, grey, violet, pink, blue, green, rainbow) with good wear resistance and eco-friendlier processing.

• Inco Coloring (Electrochemical Interference):
  Thickens the natural chromium-oxide film on stainless steel so color comes from light interference, not pigments. Very UV-stable and ideal for façades and exterior cladding. You’ll see gentle angle-dependent color shifts (bronze → gold → red → purple → blue → green).

• Electroplating:
  Deposits another metal layer using current. Often used to get a deeper, darker black than standard PVD black.

• Nano-Painting:
  Sprays nano-scale paint onto the surface to generate antique tones like brass, bronze, and copper, as well as custom colors. Often includes an anti-fingerprint effect.

• PVD color:

  • Hard, dense coating with strong adhesion

  • Good wear and scratch resistance in normal use

  • Stable color and gloss in indoor and many semi-outdoor environments

• Inco interference color:

  • Not a coating, but a modified passive film inside the stainless surface

  • Excellent UV stability because there are no organic pigments

  • Very suitable for exterior façades, soffits, and architectural details

For high-touch areas we can also add anti-fingerprint or protective coatings to reduce smudging and minor abrasion.

You can mix a wide range of colors with different finishes:

• Colors: gold, champagne gold, rose gold, black, grey, copper, blue, green, violet, pink, red, rainbow, iridescent, antique brass/bronze, etc. 

• Finishes: mirror, hairline, satin, vibration, sandblasted, textured / patterned (e.g., linen, water ripple, 5WL/6WL, geometric patterns)

Examples:

• Mirror gold / hairline gold / satin gold / vibration gold / sandblasted gold

• Mirror rose gold / hairline rose gold / rose gold water ripple / patterned rose gold

• Mirror black / hairline black / sandblasted black / black water ripple

• Antique bronze nano-painted hairline or satin

This allows you to match the material with almost any design style, from luxury hotel lobby to minimal modern office.

Yes, especially when grade and coloring method are selected correctly:

• For standard exterior use (non-extreme conditions):

  • Inco-colored sheets in 304 or 316L

  • PVD-colored sheets with outdoor anti-fingerprint coating for certain cladding elements that are not in the harshest environment

• For coastal / industrial environments:

  • Inco-colored sheets in 316/316L are strongly recommended for long-term stability

We always suggest sharing project location, distance from sea, and cleaning plan so we can recommend the safest combination.

Iridescent or rainbow stainless steel is usually produced by Inco electrochemical interference coloring. The process adjusts the thickness of the chromium-oxide passive film so that different wavelengths of light interfere with each other. The result:

• Colors appear to shift with angle and lighting (bronze → gold → red → purple → blue → green).

• No dyes or pigments are used; the effect is purely optical inside the oxide layer.

• The color is highly UV-stable, making it suitable for façades and outdoor installations.

Guidelines:

• Cutting: shearing or laser cutting with protective film left on the decorative face.

• Bending: possible up to 180° with appropriate die radius and tooling; the coating stays intact if bending is done correctly.

• Welding: ideally weld first, then apply PVD. If welding must be done after PVD, keep welds on hidden sides and re-polish/passivate heat-affected areas.

Inco-colored sheets can usually be:

• Cut, bent, punched, and perforated after coloring.

• On bends, the outer radius may look slightly lighter due to stretching of the interference layer—this is a normal optical effect.

• Welding should ideally be done before coloring or on non-visible faces to keep the appearance consistent.

For complex parts, we recommend making one or two trial pieces before mass production.
