Decorative Stainless Steel for Elevators
— Doors, Cabins and Panels
What it is
What Is Decorative Stainless Steel for Elevator Applications?
Decorative stainless steel is used as the visible surface material for elevator entrances, door skins, cabin wall panels, ceilings and interior trims.
Unlike a standard mill-finish sheet, decorative stainless steel combines a selected base finish, colour, pattern or compatible coating with the material and fabrication requirements of the elevator component.
The correct specification depends on:
- Where the material will be installed
- How frequently the surface will be touched
- The cleaning and maintenance requirements
- The required cutting, bending, edge folding or other fabrication
Components
Where Is Decorative Stainless Steel Used in an Elevator?
Each component carries a different set of design priorities — reflection, touch frequency, fabrication and cleaning. Reviewing them separately keeps the specification realistic.
- Entrance door skins
- Cabin wall panels
- Control-panel surround (COP)
- Architraves, headers and jambs
- Cabin ceiling and upper trims
- Skirting and lower trims
Elevator Entrance Doors and Frames
Decorative stainless steel can be used for entrance-door skins, architraves, headers, jambs and surrounding lobby trims.
Confirm finish direction, door dimensions, edge forming, panel joints and protective film before fabrication.
Elevator Cabin Wall Panels
Cabin walls may use brushed, mirror, coloured, etched or embossed finishes, often with a contrasting centre panel. Confirm panel size, reflection, joint layout, substrate and fixing method as part of the cabin design.
Cabin Ceilings and Upper Trims
Matte and satin finishes keep reflection soft under cabin downlights. Mirror and PVD colour give a brighter, more reflective ceiling.
Confirm lighting cut-outs, panel radius, weight and support system before fabrication.
Control-Panel Surrounds
The control panel is the most-touched surface in the cabin. A brushed or satin faceplate against mirror or PVD side walls keeps fingerprints off the busy area. Confirm cut-out drawings, grain direction, visible edges and cleaner compatibility before fabrication.
Finishes
Choose the Right Stainless Steel Finish for Each Elevator Component
Select the finish according to the elevator component, lighting, touch frequency, fabrication and maintenance requirements.
Vibration and sandblasted finishes provide a softer, low-reflection appearance for cabin walls, entrance surrounds and high-touch components.
Their multidirectional or matte texture works well under varied lobby and cabin lighting.
Mirror and PVD-coloured finishes create a brighter and more distinctive appearance for premium elevator doors, cabin feature panels, ceilings and trims.
They are well suited to projects where reflection, colour and lighting form an important part of the interior design.
Hammered textures and liquid-metal effects create a handcrafted, artistic appearance for luxury cabins, feature panels and entrance details.
Their natural visual variation makes them especially suitable for bespoke and design-led elevator interiors.

PROJECT WORKFLOW
From Finish Selection to Delivery
A clear five-step process from application review and finish approval to production, inspection and delivery.
01
Define the Application and Supply Scope
Tell us which elevator components you need and whether the required supply format is flat sheets, cut-to-size blanks or fabricated parts.
02
Select the Finish and Approve the Sample
Choose the base finish, colour, pattern and optional coating, then approve the applicable physical sample before production.
03
Review Drawings and Specifications
Review the dimensions, thickness, finish direction, cut-outs, bending details, quantity and agreed supply responsibilities.
04
Production and Quality Inspection
Production follows the approved sample, drawings and quotation, with quality checks carried out according to the agreed inspection scope.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about finishes, samples, fabrication, specifications and ordering for elevator decorative stainless steel.
Vigorss supplies decorative stainless steel sheets for elevator entrance doors, frames, cabin walls, ceilings, control-panel surrounds, skirting and interior trims. Cut-to-size sheets and selected fabricated components can also be reviewed according to drawings and the confirmed supply scope.
Available finish families include mirror, hairline, satin, vibration, sandblasted, etched, embossed, stamped, hammered, liquid-metal-effect and PVD-coloured stainless steel.
Exact colours, patterns, textures and optional coatings should be approved using a physical sample.
Yes. Cutting, cut-outs, bending, edge folding and selected fabrication can be reviewed according to the project drawings.
The visible surfaces, tolerances, finish direction, fabrication sequence and supply responsibilities must be defined before quotation.
304 and 316L are generally available.
Common sheet sizes include 1219 × 2438 mm, 1219 × 3048 mm and 1500 × 3000 mm. The general maximum size is approximately 1500 × 4000 mm, with a general thickness range of 0.5–3.0 mm. Exact availability depends on the selected finish, pattern, colour and fabrication.
Compatible anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch coatings may be applied to selected decorative stainless steel finishes.
Anti-fingerprint coating can help reduce visible fingerprints and simplify routine cleaning, while anti-scratch coating may improve surface resistance under specified conditions.
Neither coating should be described as fingerprint-proof or scratch-proof. Compatibility with the base finish, bending, welding, cleaning products and the intended application must be checked before production.
Final approval should be based on an identified physical sample rather than a screen image or digital colour reference.
The approved sample should define the relevant colour, gloss, grain direction, texture, pattern scale and optional coating.
Standard stock samples are free and are normally prepared within 2 working days.
Customised finish or pattern samples normally require approximately 5 working days, with the sample fee confirmed case by case. Courier costs are paid by the client.
The general MOQ for standard or ready-stock finishes is 10 sheets in standard sizes of 1219 × 2438 mm or 1219 × 3048 mm.
The general MOQ for customised finishes or patterns is 30 standard-size sheets.
Ready-stock orders normally require around 5 days, standard production around 7–10 days and customised production around 15–30 days. Fabricated components are quoted according to the project.
No. Vigorss normally supplies decorative stainless steel sheets and confirmed fabricated components.
The elevator manufacturer, contractor and installer remain responsible for the elevator structure, operating systems, installation, local regulations and final assembly.
